Full description
5:30 PM – pick up from your hotel in Hoi An, your guide leads you out of town on e-scooters — past rice fields still warm from the afternoon sun, through a local market where the evening shop is just getting started, and across the river as the sky begins to change colour.
Along the way, the food comes naturally. A starter at the market. Something crispy and local on the other side of the river. Then, as the night settles into the Ancient Town, the dishes get more serious — grilled pork rolled in fresh rice paper, a bowl of cao lầu made with water drawn from a specific ancient well, and if there’s still room, the city’s famous bánh mì, arguably Vietnam’s finest.
It ends on something sweet, somewhere with lanterns. By 8:30 pm you’ll be back at your hotel — full, unhurried, and with a clearer sense of what this city actually tastes like.
