Full description
8:30 AM/2:00 PM – Leave the tourist trail behind as your private car winds through Hue’s quiet countryside on scenic backroads rarely seen by visitors. Your destination: Tam Giang — a vast, shimmering expanse of water stretching over 200 km², home to generations of fishing families whose lives are woven into the lagoon itself.
Welcomed by a friendly village community, you’ll step aboard a traditional boat and drift into a world apart. Your local guide shares stories of daily life on the lagoon as you weave through intricate fish trap mazes and glide beneath canopies of mangrove trees. Watch fishermen haul in their catch, then get your own hands wet: try harvesting fishing traps and collecting freshwater mussels — an experience money can’t buy in any restaurant.
The journey culminates at a small sandy islet rising from the middle of the lagoon, where local families have built simple wooden shelters for daily life and to welcome guests. Swim freely, paddle a SUP board, or simply drift and soak up the silence. Finally, sit down to a feast of the freshest seafood you’ve ever tasted — much of it caught by your own hands, minutes earlier.
